The Sacred Space of “Yes” & The Thrill of the Wait 💍✨🥳

As a photographer, there’s nothing more exhilarating than being entrusted with capturing such a vulnerable and monumental moment. This is the very essence I try to capture in every session, and it’s what made the surprise proposal for my sweet friend Alex and her now-fiancé, Joe, so incredibly special. Having known Alex since elementary school, being a part of this full-circle moment filled me with such honor and anticipation. Their proposal at Seaside, New Jersey was nothing short of a perfect night with the most special proposal I ever captured.

Joe reached out to me with a plan to ask the most important question of his life. He envisioned a moment under a charming gazebo overlooking the serene bay in Seaside Park, New Jersey. The goal wasn’t just to take pictures of a proposal, but to hold a sacred space for a moment of pure vulnerability and commitment. My heart raced with a mix of excitement and a nervous energy as we coordinated the timing to capture that perfect golden light. I discreetly positioned myself behind the gazebo, my camera poised, but my focus was on being a quiet witness to their love.

And can we talk about that setup? A huge shoutout to Joe’s family for creating the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing scene! The flowers, the greenery, the candles… it truly set the most romantic vibe as the sun began to set over the bay. Hiding there, waiting for them to walk up, I felt the electric anticipation build with every passing moment. Watching them stroll up, seeing him drop to one knee, her genuine shock and pure emotion… it was a rush of adrenaline and pure joy. My role wasn’t just to click a shutter from my hidden spot; it was to be a guardian of that sacred space, ensuring their raw, authentic emotion was captured without interruption.
